Cumulative Indexes to Munnicks Catholic Church Records
Sacred Heart Newport, St. Patrick's Toledo
St. Anthony's Waldport, St. Mary's Siletz

This section of our church records are for combined records for the parishes of Sacred Heart Newport, St. Patrick Toledo, St. Anthony's Waldport and a few additional records for St. Mary's Siletz. We are not sure why these parishes were combined when recorded but we know that these parishes were all missions of one another at one time. The records are very limited but still have vital information for research.
Sacred Heart parish in Newport, Oregon was originally called St. Mary Star of the Sea and was in the town called Olsonville which is now in Newport, and blessed by Father Gibney, August 26, 1889. The parish was at first a mission under St. Mary's, Corvallis and then for a time under Siletz and then Toledo. Then later Sacred Heart as a parish was in charge of Siletz and Toledo.
St. Patrick's Mission in Toledo, Oregon was originally in Yaquina Bay, Oregon. The first church was build in 1888 and we have no information regarding why the parish was not continued after the Toledo church was built. In 1913 the Toledo St. Patrick's church was built and as far as we can tell the Yaquina Bay church was no longer in existence. St. Patrick's was at first a mission of St. Mary's Corvallis and then a mission of Newport and then back to Corvallis and again back to Newport. It became a separate parish in 1963.
Information about St. Mary's Siletz, Oregon can be found under that parish in this section.
St. Anthony's Waldport, Oregon was blessed in 1949 and was at first a mission of Sacred Heart Newport. It is now it's own parish.
The churches pictured above are from left to right, St. Patrick's Toledo and Sacred Heart Newport. We were unable to obtain a picture of St. Anthony's Waldport.
Heritage Trail Press offers the following limited records for these combined parishes, Marriages 1940-1953 and Deaths 1918-1948. We will offer the early records for Sacred Heart Newport and St. Patrick's Toledo as we obtain them.
Sacred Heart Newport was the 45th Catholic parish dedicated, St. Patrick's Yaquina was the 44th and St. Anthony's Waldport was the 140th parish dedicated in Oregon.
