Oregon Death Index   ( Free )      This index was compiled by the State of Oregon beginning in 1903. The index is not error free and there are many missing death records. The Oregon Vital Records hopes to correct the situation as time and money allows. Our database at the present time totals over 153,000 names and we will be updating this index as it is input and eventually it should include about 600,000 names.      We have completed the input for 1903-1930.      If you locate a record and want to order a copy of the death certificate you need to contact the Oregon State Archives. Information on how to order and the costs of their services is listed on their web site at:    http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us.     Search the Oregon Death Index First Name: Tip: Use only the 1st initial or none. Last Name: Tip: Try using only the 1st 4 letters.
